Police arrested a block account manager in Bishra for allegedly embezzling over Rs 46 lakh from government funds at the local Community Health Centre (CHC).
The accused, identified as Shiv Prasad Mallik (37) of Chhend, Rourkela, was arrested following a report filed by the CHC superintendent. Investigators revealed financial irregularities between 2022 and 2025, leading to the arrest.
Mallik allegedly transferred Rs 46,08,341 from government accounts into multiple private bank accounts. To conceal the fraud, he manipulated official computer records and financial data. Police seized incriminating evidence during the investigation.
Authorities recovered three mobile phones, bank documents, debit and credit cards, and Rs 88,770 in cash. They also seized foreign currency, 33.426 grams of gold, 1.35 kg of silver, a Maruti car, a TVS Jupiter scooter, and a Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle.
Police confirmed that further investigation is underway to identify associates involved in the fraud. Officials stated that strict action will follow against anyone linked to the case.
