Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi laid the foundation stone of the new Odisha Bhavan at Kautilya Marg in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi, today.
The new Odisha Bhavan will cost Rs 93.27 crore. It will feature three basements and seven floors, including 45 rooms, suites, an exhibition area, and a modern conference hall with seating for 70. The design will reflect Odisha’s rich art, heritage, and culture.
The old Odisha Bhavan was demolished in 2025 due to structural issues and a lack of facilities. Since then, visiting leaders and officials from Odisha have stayed at the Ashoka Hotel. The new building aims to provide a dedicated cultural and administrative hub in the capital.
The Chief Minister announced that Odisha Bhavans will also be constructed in Ayodhya, Bengaluru, Surat, and another in Mumbai. Land has already been acquired for these projects. Currently, Odisha Bhavans operate in Kolkata, Chennai, and Mumbai.
To ensure proper upkeep, the state government will create a dedicated division for the maintenance of all Odisha Bhavans and Sadans. Additionally, a Janashraya Bhavan will be built near Master Canteen Square in Bhubaneswar to provide affordable accommodation for citizens visiting the capital for urgent work.
Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram, Odisha PWD Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, Bargarh MP Pradeep Purohit, and senior officials, including Principal Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh, attended the ceremony.
