President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the National Arogya Fair 2026 in Shegaon, Buldhana, Maharashtra, on February 25, highlighting the invaluable role of AYUSH systems in citizens’ health.

She also felicitated six senior Vaidyas for their contributions to AYUSH healthcare.

Addressing the gathering, the President emphasised that health is the greatest happiness in tradition, and healthy citizens strengthen the nation. She noted that Ayurveda, Yoga, Siddha, and other AYUSH systems have served people since ancient times and continue to provide holistic guidance for balanced living.

Murmu pointed out that farms, kitchens, and forests hold a treasure of medicinal plants and herbs. Conserving and cultivating these resources not only supports medicine production but also improves farmers’ livelihoods, soil health, and environmental balance. She stressed that promoting AYUSH systems enhances physical well-being, economic growth, and ecological sustainability.

The President observed that integrative medicine is gaining global recognition, with yoga widely adopted for stress-free living and Ayurvedic treatments benefiting people worldwide. She underlined the importance of evidence-based research, standardisation, and quality control to strengthen AYUSH credibility.

She expressed satisfaction that the Ministry of AYUSH is working toward international standards in research and drug development. Scientific efforts aim to establish Ayurveda, Yoga, and other AYUSH systems as reliable solutions to modern health challenges. Murmu voiced confidence that modern interventions, innovation, and global collaboration will make traditional medicine an integral part of holistic healthcare.
