Australia Women began their three-match ODI series against India with a commanding six-wicket victory at Allan Border Field, Brisbane.
India, after winning the toss and opting to bat, posted 214 runs in 48.3 overs. Smriti Mandhana (58) and Harmanpreet Kaur (53) provided resistance, while Kashvee Gautam chipped in with 43. However, early wickets of Pratika Rawal and Shafali Verma left India struggling to build momentum.
Australia’s bowlers kept the pressure on, with Ashleigh Gardner claiming three wickets and Megan Schutt adding two. Contributions from Tahlia McGrath, Darcie Brown, Alana King, and Sophie Molineux ensured India never fully recovered.
Chasing 215, Australia Women reached the target comfortably in 38.2 overs, finishing at 217/4. Strong partnerships and disciplined batting sealed the win, giving Australia a 1–0 lead in the series.
