The Odisha Government has approved plans to transform Paradip into a major sports hub. As part of the initiative, a multi-purpose indoor stadium with gallery facilities and a 25-meter swimming pool will be constructed at Udayabata in Kujang block.
Industry, Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Samapad Chandra Swain proposed the project, which received clearance from the Sports and Youth Services Department. Officials confirmed that at least five acres of encroachment-free government land will be identified for the complex.
Last month, block-level stadiums in Kujang and Tirtol received administrative approval. Building on that momentum, Minister Swain urged the government to expand the facilities into a world-class sports complex. He suggested adding floodlights, larger galleries, multiple sports disciplines, and even a cricket ground within the premises.
The project aims to provide a platform for grassroots talent development and fulfil a long-standing demand of Paradip residents. Authorities believe the sports hub will play a significant role in realising the state’s vision of a prosperous Odisha.
