Question Hour in the Odisha Legislative Assembly failed once again today as opposition members created chaos over farmers’ concerns.
From the start of proceedings, opposition legislators held placards, shouted slogans, and refused to take their seats despite repeated requests from the Speaker.
The House functioned for only six minutes before the Speaker adjourned it until 11:30 a.m. The ruling party criticised the opposition for obstructing proceedings, arguing that the government was prepared to discuss farmers’ issues, but the opposition showed no willingness to cooperate.
This marks another day of disruption, continuing a pattern of adjournments during the ongoing session. Farmers’ concerns remain at the centre of heated debates, with opposition parties pressing for immediate discussion.
Later in the afternoon, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi will present the 2026–27 state budget. Last year, the government announced a budget size of Rs 2.90 lakh crore. This year, estimates suggest the budget could reach Rs 3.20 lakh crore, reflecting increased expenditure plans
