The Annual HSC Examination 2026 began today across Odisha under extensive administrative arrangements to ensure smooth and transparent conduct.

The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) is conducting the examination from February 19 to March 2.

On the first day, Dr N. Thirumala Naik, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the School & Mass Education Department, visited several centres in Bhubaneswar. He reviewed seating arrangements, security measures, question paper distribution systems, and logistical facilities. He interacted with teachers, centre superintendents, invigilators, and district officials, directing them to maintain strict adherence to guidelines. Expressing satisfaction, he reiterated the department’s commitment to peaceful and fair examinations.

Dr Naik also visited the BSE’s Command Control Room to assess real-time monitoring across the state. He examined surveillance mechanisms and coordination systems designed to ensure incident-free examinations.

This year, 5,46,875 candidates are appearing for the Annual HSC Examination. Including candidates of the State Open School Certificate Examination and Madhyama Examination, the total number of examinees has reached 5,61,979.

To facilitate smooth conduct, 332 nodal centres and 3,082 examination centres have been established across districts. Vigilance measures include 72 district-level flying squads and 37 BSE squads. Additionally, one observer has been appointed at each centre to monitor proceedings and enforce guidelines.

The School & Mass Education Department emphasised that these measures reflect Odisha’s commitment to fairness, transparency, and discipline in examinations.
