The annual Matric Examination conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha commenced on Thursday with 5,61,979 students appearing at 3,082 examination centres across the state.

The examination began at 9:00 am under extensive security and administrative arrangements put in place by the Board and the School and Mass Education Department to ensure a smooth and transparent process.

Robust Security and Monitoring Measures in Place

Authorities confirmed that question papers were dispatched from designated nodal centres and delivered to examination venues as per schedule. In line with established protocols, sealed packets were opened in the presence of the centre superintendent and students to maintain transparency.

The examination is being conducted from 9:00 am to 11:30 am. Officials and staff assigned to examination duties have been prohibited from carrying or using mobile phones within the premises.

To prevent malpractice, the Board has implemented a three-tier squad system. Special vigilance teams are actively monitoring centres statewide. In addition:

  • QR codes and watermarks have been embedded in question papers as enhanced security features.

  • Superintendents have been instructed to submit daily reports after each examination.

  • An advanced command and control room has been set up at the BSE headquarters in Cuttack for 24-hour monitoring.

  • AI-enabled CCTV cameras are overseeing activities, from the opening of question paper packets to proceedings inside examination halls.

These measures aim to ensure fairness, accountability, and a secure environment for all candidates.

Students Arrive Early Amid Tight Security Checks

On the first day, students appeared for the MIL (Odia) paper. The Matric Examination will continue until March 2, 2026.

Examination centre gates opened at 7:30 am, allowing candidates to enter after thorough frisking and verification procedures. Students were seen arriving early, demonstrating preparedness and commitment.

In several locations, teachers extended words of encouragement and supportive gestures to boost students’ confidence before they entered examination halls.

Commitment to Fair and Inclusive Examination Practices

The Odisha BSE Matric Exam 2026 reflects the state’s commitment to conducting examinations in a transparent, inclusive, and secure manner. With advanced monitoring systems and strict protocols in place, authorities aim to provide equal opportunity and a fair environment for every student.

The Board continues to monitor the process closely to ensure the successful completion of one of Odisha’s largest academic exercises.
