A bomb threat was reported on an IndiGo flight scheduled to depart from Kolkata to Shillong on Saturday morning, prompting immediate security action and passenger evacuation.

Flight 6E3074, which was set to take off at 9:15 AM, was moved to an isolation bay at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport after a handwritten threat note was discovered onboard.

Threat Note Found During Boarding

According to airport authorities, crew members found a piece of paper inside the aircraft’s lavatory stating that a bomb had been placed inside the plane. The discovery was made during the boarding process.

Passengers were promptly deboarded as a precautionary measure, and the aircraft was isolated in line with standard aviation security protocols. Security personnel and ground staff were deployed around the aircraft while checks were initiated.

Airport officials confirmed that the search operation was underway as of noon, and further details were awaited.

Airline Statement

In a statement, IndiGo confirmed the incident and said all standard operating procedures (SOPs) were followed.

“A security threat was noticed onboard IndiGo flight 6E 3074 operating from Kolkata to Shillong on 14 February 2026. Following SOP, we immediately informed the relevant authorities and are fully cooperating with them to carry out necessary security checks. Safety and security of our customers, crew and aircraft remain our top priorities,” the airline spokesperson said.

Recent Similar Incident

Last month, another IndiGo flight — 6E 2608 from Delhi to Pune — received a bomb threat upon arrival at Pune airport. In that case, a handwritten note was also found inside the aircraft’s lavatory.

The aircraft was moved to an isolation bay and thoroughly inspected by security agencies, including the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS). No suspicious items were found, and the aircraft was later cleared for normal operations.

Security Measures in Focus

Authorities reiterated that all aviation security procedures are being strictly followed to ensure passenger safety. Such incidents are handled under established protocols involving isolation of the aircraft, evacuation, inspection by security agencies, and clearance by the Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC), where applicable.

As of now, no explosive device has been confirmed, and investigations remain ongoing.
