Odisha reinforced its leadership in clean energy by successfully hosting the third edition of the Odisha Renewable Energy Investor Conclave 2026.
Organised by the Energy Department and GRIDCO Limited, with iFOREST as Knowledge Partner, the event mobilised investment commitments worth Rs 67,000 crore, covering approximately 6.8 GW of capacity.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo inaugurated the Conclave, highlighting Odisha’s commitment to India’s 500 GW non-fossil energy target by 2030. He emphasised the state’s coastal advantage for wind energy and robust policies for solar and hydro projects.
The Conclave unveiled a diversified project pipeline:
- 5,000 MW Floating Solar Photovoltaic (FSPV) projects
- 18,000 MW Pumped Storage Projects (PSP) across 36 sites
- 500 MWh Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) with Viability Gap Funding
- Opportunities in wind, distributed renewables, small hydro, agrivoltaics, and waste-to-energy
Shri Vishal Kumar Dev, Additional Chief Secretary, Energy Department, stressed that Odisha’s focus is not just capacity addition but system integration, ensuring grid stability through pumped storage and battery systems.
Five MoUs were signed between GRIDCO and major investors, including NHPC, BPCL, NEEPCO, ABC Cleantech with Axis Energy Ventures, and Vasudha. These agreements cover pumped storage, floating solar, agro-voltaics, wind hybrids, and green hydrogen.
Industry leaders such as Akash Tripathi (MD, SECI) and Dr. Chandra Bhushan (CEO, iFOREST) praised Odisha’s proactive approach, noting its potential to become a major renewable storage hub. GRIDCO’s RENA Cell will facilitate project development from concept to commissioning, ensuring transparent procurement and assured off-take.
With strong private sector participation, technology-specific sessions, and B2G interactions, the Conclave showcased Odisha’s readiness to scale renewable energy deployment. The event marked a decisive step in translating policy intent into investment momentum, positioning Odisha as Eastern India’s clean energy growth engine.
