A married couple was found dead at their residence in Kukudakhandi village under Jenapur police limits late Monday night, prompting police to launch a probe.
The deceased have been identified as George Mallick and his wife Jharana Mallick. The incident occurred while villagers and family members were attending an Astaprahari religious programme in the village. On returning home, relatives discovered the couple unresponsive inside the house.
They were rushed to the Dharmasala Community Health Centre (CHC), where doctors declared them dead.
Authorities said the exact cause of death has not yet been determined. However, sources indicated that a family dispute may have led to the tragedy.
On receiving information, Jenapur police reached the spot and began an investigation. Officers are examining the circumstances surrounding the deaths and questioning family members and locals to gather more details.
