The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a cash reward of Rs 7.50 crore for the Indian Under-19 cricket team after their emphatic victory over England in the ICC U19 World Cup 2026 final.
India defeated England by 100 runs in Harare, Zimbabwe, to secure their sixth U19 World Cup title. The young Indian side remained undefeated throughout the tournament, showcasing dominance in every match.
Batting first, India posted a mammoth 411/9. Vaibhav Suryavanshi stole the show with a blistering 175 off 80 balls, smashing 15 fours and 15 sixes. Captain Ayush Mhatre added 53 runs, while Abhigyan Kundu chipped in with a quick 40. England’s Caleb Falconer fought hard with a century, but his 115 runs could not prevent India from sealing a historic win.
India’s batting display set a new record for sixes in a Youth ODI final, hitting 31 sixes, surpassing the previous record of 23. The victory adds to India’s earlier U19 World Cup wins in 2000, 2008, 2012, 2018, and 2022.
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia praised the team’s performance and confirmed the ₹7.50 crore reward. He said the entire nation is proud of the young cricketers for their unbeaten run and their commanding win in the final.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated the team, calling the victory a shining example of India’s cricketing talent and an inspiration for young sportspersons across the country.
