Dr Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, Minister of Housing & Urban Development and General Enterprises, conducted a comprehensive review today at Kharavela Bhavan on the performance, implementation status, and financial progress of various urban development schemes.

The review focused on flagship programmes such as Mukhyamantri Sahari Bikash Yojana, Sahari Samruddhi Yojana, and Aahar. The minister examined the impact of these schemes at the grassroots level and assessed the pace of execution. He emphasised cleanliness, beautification of parks and public spaces, and effective functioning of civic service centres.

Officials presented detailed reports on solid and liquid waste management across all Urban Local Bodies (ULBs). The minister stressed uniform implementation of waste collection, segregation, processing, and disposal across municipalities and NACs. He also reviewed financial performance, budget utilisation, timely approval of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), and expenditure patterns.

Dr Mahapatra evaluated housing initiatives, including affordable housing, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), rental housing projects, transit houses, and the Adarsh Gosala scheme. He paid special attention to the development of 28 newly formed NACs, highlighting infrastructure gaps and the need for timely delivery of basic urban services.

The minister expressed dissatisfaction over delays in certain infrastructure projects and warned officials against negligence. He directed the department to accelerate pending work within the next 15 days and ensure visible progress.

Senior officials, including Principal Secretary Usha Padhee, Director of Municipal Administration Arindam Dakua, Director of Housing Shubhanand Mahapatra, Shikha Bishwal, and Rabindra Sahu, attended the meeting.
