A leopard lost its life in a violent clash with a man in Anantaprasad village under Narsinghpur West forest range in Cuttack district.
The incident occurred when the leopard entered the farm of Shubhranshu Bhol, sparking panic.
Shubhranshu, in an attempt to save his life, fought back with a knife kept on the farm. The fierce struggle ended with the leopard’s death, while Shubhranshu sustained serious injuries on his legs, hands, face, and abdomen. He was rushed by ambulance to Cuttack SCB Medical College for treatment.
His father, Sudarshan Bhol, said the youth acted in self-defence to protect his life. Forest officials, led by Ranger Pradeep Nayak, seized the carcass from the farmhouse. Assistant Conservator of Forests Manoj Patra, along with a scientific team, reached the spot and began investigations from multiple angles.
