The Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2025-26 is advancing robustly across Odisha’s 30 districts, showcasing efficient paddy procurement operations and widespread farmer participation.

As of today, the state has successfully procured 30,49,560 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of paddy from 6,93,097 farmers, reflecting a strong momentum in agricultural support initiatives.

Leading the charge are western Odisha districts, where procurement has exceeded expectations. Sambalpur has achieved an impressive 96% of its target, enabling 61,650 farmers to sell their produce by January 22, 2026—a notable increase from 56,831 farmers on the same date last year. Similarly, Subarnapur district has procured 77% of its target, with 57,217 farmers participating compared to 51,500 in the previous season. Other high-performing districts include Bargarh, Bolangir, and Jharsuguda, all of which have surpassed 60% of their procurement goals.

In southern Odisha, Ganjam district has operationalised 476 mandis (procurement centres), allowing 45,255 farmers to sell their paddy—more than double the 18,121 farmers recorded last year on this date. Rayagada has also seen growth, with 10,490 farmers selling their produce against 9,655 in the prior KMS.

The state government has disbursed ₹7,914.15 crore towards Minimum Support Price (MSP) and Input Assistance, underscoring its commitment to farmer welfare. In a significant reform, an e-KYC Aadhaar-based payment system has been introduced, ensuring direct transfers to verified farmers registered on the Paddy Procurement Automation System (P-PAS) portal. This measure enhances transparency and eliminates intermediaries, benefiting genuine cultivators.

While procurement is in full swing in many areas, operations have recently commenced in coastal districts such as Balasore, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Jajpur, and Kendrapara, and are gradually picking up pace. To oversee the process, a 24/7 Control Room at the Odisha State Civil Supplies Corporation (OSCSC) headquarters is actively monitoring paddy arrivals, procurement progress, lifting schedules, and the seamless transportation of foodgrains from mandis.

Farmers facing any issues can seek assistance via the toll-free helpline 1967, ensuring quick resolution and support throughout the season.

This year’s procurement drive highlights Odisha’s focus on agricultural efficiency, digital innovation, and inclusive growth, setting a positive tone for the remainder of the KMS.
