Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced an increase in the monthly allowance for Grama Rakshis working across Odisha’s rural areas.
The government raised the allowance from Rs 1,800 to Rs 2,500 per month, thereby providing stronger financial support to these rural security volunteers.
In addition, the government directed Grama Rakshis to report once a week to the police station under which they serve. This measure ensures accountability and strengthens coordination with law enforcement authorities.
Moreover, officials emphasised that Grama Rakshis play a crucial role in maintaining peace and order in villages. They actively assist in crime detection and consistently support local policing efforts.
Consequently, the enhanced allowance is expected to boost their morale and further reinforce their contribution to rural security. Ultimately, the decision reflects the government’s commitment to empowering grassroots-level law enforcement and building safer communities across Odisha.
