A shocking incident unfolded in Naraj, Cuttack, this morning when locals discovered the body of a newborn boy under the Naraj bridge gate.

Authorities suspect that someone threw the infant into the river, but instead of falling into the water, the body got stuck beneath the barrage gate.

Police and fire services rushed to the spot after receiving information. They recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem examination. The discovery has triggered widespread outrage and raised disturbing questions about who carried out the act.

According to initial reports, the newborn was tied with wooden pieces before being thrown, suggesting deliberate intent. However, investigators have not yet identified the person responsible.

Residents expressed shock over the incident, calling it a chilling reminder of rising crimes against infants. Police confirmed that they have launched a probe and will examine all possible angles, including whether the act was linked to family disputes or abandonment.

Officials assured that strict action will follow once the investigation reveals the truth. Meanwhile, the incident has sparked calls for stronger awareness and vigilance to prevent such tragedies in society.
