In a shocking incident, a man was fatally shot by his elder brother in Deheda village under Biswanathpur police limits in Kalahandi district.

The deceased has been identified as Purna Majhi (35). He was killed by his elder brother Krushna Majhi.

According to reports, Krishna Majhi, the elder brother, and Purna Majhi, the younger brother, had a dispute for an undisclosed reason. During the altercation, Purna struck Krishna on the head. In retaliation, Krishna shot Purna with a homemade gun at their home on Friday at 8 PM. As a result, Purna died at the scene.

Following the incident, Purna’s wife, Chumki Majhi, along with her family members, filed a formal complaint at the Biswanathpur police station, seeking justice. Officer Mamata Hembram from the Biswanathpur police station, along with Kesinga SDPO Ajay Das and a forensic team, arrived at the location, seized the body, and initiated an investigation.

Krishna Majhi, the accused elder brother, was arrested, and the gun used in the murder was recovered from him. The police have registered a case under the relevant Act, and after performing an autopsy, the body has been handed over to the family.
