The Vigilance Department of Odisha secured a conviction against Suresh Chandra Rath, Former Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF), Divisional Forest Office, Puri (Retired), in a disproportionate assets (DA) case.
The Additional Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar, sentenced Rath to three years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1,00,000. The case was registered under Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, after Odisha Vigilance charge-sheeted him for possessing assets beyond his known sources of income.
Following the conviction, Odisha Vigilance announced that it will move the competent authority to stop Rath’s pension benefits.
