Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday chaired a high-level meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan to review the series of bomb threats reported across various locations in Odisha earlier in the day. Authorities confirmed that all threats were hoaxes, and there is no cause for public alarm.

The meeting was informed that police bomb detection squads, Quick Response Teams, Special Tactical Units, intelligence officers, and other agencies promptly responded to every report and conducted thorough investigations at the affected sites. “All bomb threats received today were false,” officials stated, emphasising that the situation is fully under control.

Addressing the possibility of similar threats recurring, the Chief Minister stressed the need for constant preparedness. He directed the police to immediately prepare and issue a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for handling such incidents and to remain on high alert at all times.

CM Majhi also called for further strengthening of the state’s bomb detection and disposal squads. While acknowledging the existing expertise of these units in identifying and neutralising explosives, he emphasised providing advanced training and modern equipment to enhance their capabilities.

Soon after the first reports emerged this morning, the Chief Minister held discussions with the Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary (Home), and Director General of Police, issuing immediate instructions for action.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Hemant Sharma, Principal Secretary to CM Saswata Mishra, DGP Y.B. Khurania, and Director (Intelligence) R.P. Koche, among others.
