A devastating road accident occurred near Barua on the Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border, resulting in the deaths of three individuals and serious injuries to two others, including a girl child. All the victims belonged to the same family from Balasore district in Odisha.
The incident involved a family of five travelling in an Innova car from Bhubaneswar to Visakhapatnam. According to reports, a truck attempting to avoid a two-wheeler lost control, crossed the divider, and collided head-on with the oncoming car. The truck then veered off the road and entered a nearby field.
Upon receiving information about the accident, staff from the 1033 National Highway service arrived at the scene and rushed the injured to Barua Hospital for treatment. One woman succumbed to her injuries at the accident site, while two others passed away later at the hospital. The two surviving victims, including a small child, remain in critical condition.
The family hailed from Balasore, and authorities are investigating the exact circumstances leading to the crash. This tragic event highlights ongoing concerns about road safety on interstate highways.
