The 2nd National Judges Badminton Tournament, organised by the Jharkhand High Court, concluded successfully at the Thakur Vishwanath Sahdeo Indoor Stadium in Ranchi.

The two-day event saw enthusiastic participation from 31 judges representing nine high courts across India, including Odisha.

The tournament featured competitions in four categories: Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Singles, and Mixed Doubles. On Saturday, January 3, the event was inaugurated by Jharkhand High Court Chief Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan and Indian women’s hockey team captain Nikki Pradhan. The finals and closing ceremony took place on Sunday, marking a thrilling end to the proceedings.

Representing the Odisha High Court were Justice Savitri Ratho, Justice V. Narasingh, and Justice Chitta Ranjan Das. In a standout performance, Justice Savitri Ratho and Justice V. Narasingh clinched the Mixed Doubles title by defeating the pair from the Rajasthan High Court in the final.

Adding to Odisha’s glory, Justice Ratho also emerged as the champion in the Women’s Singles category, securing two prestigious awards for the state.

Notably, the inaugural edition of this national-level tournament was hosted by the Odisha High Court last year, setting the stage for this growing tradition among the judiciary.

This event not only promoted physical fitness and camaraderie among judges but also highlighted the sporting talents within India’s judicial community.
