The ambitious Subhadra Yojana scheme, initiated by the BJP government in Odisha, has successfully reached over one crore women in the state.
On Thursday, ₹115 crore was distributed to 2.30 lakh new women beneficiaries.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, who also serves as the Minister for Women and Child Development and Mission Shakti Departments, transferred ₹5,000 to each beneficiary through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
This marks a significant milestone for the scheme, which aims to provide ₹50,000 to eligible women aged 21 to 60 years over five years (2024-25 to 2028-29).
Since its launch by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17 last year, financial assistance has been distributed in five phases. The next installment of ₹5,000 will be distributed to beneficiaries on International Women’s Day (March 8).
The state government also plans to enhance the skills of women beneficiaries and provide market linkage for their products. Additionally, the state will release 10 months of pending salaries for women workers under Mission Shakti and provide bonuses to Anganwadi workers and assistants.
This initiative is part of the government’s vision for a ‘Viksit Odisha’ and aims to empower women across the state.
