Khandagiri police have arrested a man posing as a sub-inspector who was allegedly blackmailing young couples caught in intimate moments at the scenic Khandagiri hills in the state capital.
The accused, identified as Jaj, a resident of the Kerala region, would introduce himself as a police officer and secretly capture photographs of couples during their private encounters. He then threatened to leak the images online and make them go viral unless the victims paid him a hefty sum of money, sources said.
Acting on a tip-off, the Khandagiri police laid a trap and apprehended the suspect red-handed.
Jaj is currently in custody at the Khandagiri police station, where interrogations are underway to uncover the full extent of his activities.
