Sinapali police in Nuapada district rescued 11 bonded labourers, including a minor bo,y during a raid near Godal Chhak on Sunday.
The operation also led to the arrest of a middleman and the seizure of a Bolero vehicle allegedly used for trafficking.
Police identified the arrested middleman as Chitrasen Put, a resident of Bharuamunda village under Lathor police station in Balangir district. The rescued labourers included eight men, two women, and one minor. The seized Bolero carried registration number OD 33X 2861.
According to sources, traffickers attempted to transport the labourers to another state by bus after moving them in the Bolero. Acting on a tip-off, Sinapali police launched the raid under the direction of Nuapada SP Amrit Pal Singh and the leadership of Sinapali IIC Durgamadhab Bag.
Following the raid, police registered Case No. 376/25 at the Sinapali police station. Authorities produced the accused in court, where his bail plea was rejected. He was subsequently sent to judicial custody.
Police confirmed that repeated raids have unsettled local trafficking networks. Discussions among middlemen and agents suggest growing fear of further crackdowns. Officials emphasised that the rescue operation reflects the administration’s commitment to dismantling bonded labour practices in the region.
