A review meeting of the Treasury Sub-Department under the General Administration and Public Grievances Department was held on Friday at the State Convention Hall in Lok Seva Bhawan.
The meeting, chaired by Director of Estates Bijay Kumar Prusty, discussed various aspects of efficient management of government quarters in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
Detailed deliberations were held on improving the overall administration of government residential quarters in the twin cities. Suggestions were provided to the Centre for Modernising Government Initiative (CMGI) to further enhance the efficiency of the online housing management system, known as Quarters Management System (QMS 2.0).
Recommendations included implementing real-time updates for occupation and vacation of quarters to ensure accurate tracking. The meeting also emphasised adopting a zero-tolerance policy towards subletting of government houses, with directives issued to the Treasury Department for strict enforcement and action against violators.
It was decided that regular and firm eviction drives would continue against officers who continue to occupy government quarters beyond the permitted period after retirement.
Among others present at the meeting were Treasury Officer Prakash Chandra Behera, Additional Director of Estates Anjan Kumar Das, Under Secretary of Estates Niranjan Padhi, concerned Executive Engineers from the Works Department, departmental Assistant Engineers, officers from CMGI, and staff from the Treasury Department.
