The Odisha Government revised the surrender package for Maoists and offered higher financial incentives to encourage rehabilitation and reintegration into society.
To begin with, the new scheme specifies amounts based on the type of weapon surrendered and the rank of the cadre. Maoists surrendering with a Light Machine Gun will receive Rs 4.95 lakh. Moreover, those surrendering with an AK‑47 rifle will get Rs 3.30 lakh, while those surrendering with an SLR rifle will fetch Rs 1.65 lakh. In addition, Maoists carrying a reward of Rs 10 lakh on their heads will receive an extra Rs 5 lakh upon surrender.
Furthermore, the government announced that it will withdraw minor cases registered against surrendered Maoists to facilitate their return to mainstream life.
At the leadership level, the incentives rise sharply. Politburo and Central Committee members will receive Rs 1.10 crore. Similarly, State Committee and Special Zonal Committee members will get Rs 55 lakh. Regional Committee members will be granted Rs 33 lakh, while Divisional Committee members will receive Rs 27.5 lakh. Another category of Divisional Committee members will be entitled to Rs 22 lakh.
