Bhubaneswar: In another development in the brutal murder of a married woman at her house in Bhima Tangi area under Airfield Police Station limits today, police have identified the man who was found lying unconscious at the crime scene.
Police said the man has been identified as Jagannath Pradhan of Bada Mangalpur in Jajpur. After gaining consciousness during examination in Capital Hospital, he confessed to having murdered Rinki alias Priyanka Priyadarshini Sahu this morning and then attempted suicide by cutting his hand with a knife.

“A handwritten note which was written by accused Jagannath Pradhan have also been seized from the spot which seems to have been prepared much before the murder as he has mentioned having killed both Rinki and her son,” the police said and added that the 3-year-old child was unharmed as the kid was playing in the landlord’s house during the incident.
From the spot two blood-stained knives have been seized which are suspected to have been used in the crime. Besides other physical clue material and evidence against Jagannath Pradhan have been also seized, the police added.
An investigation is under progress and follow-up action will be taken after discharge of the suspect from Capital Hospital, the police further said.
According to reports, today afternoon at around 12.25 PM, one Rakesh Kumar Sahu of Bhimtangi Housing Board colony, Phase 1 under Airfield Police Station informed Victor control room that someone has murdered his wife Rinki in their rented house by cutting her throat and an unknown male was lying unconscious inside their house. Â Following this Airfield PS registered a murder case and initiated an investigation.
During the investigation, it is ascertained that Rakesh Kumar Sahu, who is working in Eureka Forbes, has been staying in the rented house at Bhimtangi HB Colony with his wife Rinki and their three-year-old child for the last three years.
As usual, Rakesh left for his work this morning, and later he got a WhatsApp call from one unknown number where someone showed his wife lying in a pool of blood. Rakesh then immediately contacted the house owner to go and check his house.
The house owner and his son went down and found the house locked. So they broke the door and when entered the room. However, they found Rakesh’s Rinki lying in a pool of blood and another unknown male was also lying unconscious in the bedroom.
In the meanwhile, Rakesh also came back to the house and informed the matter to the police control room. Soon, the police reached the spot and shifted the injured.
