The Commissionerate Police has issued a fresh order prohibiting vehicle parking on several major roads across Bhubaneswar to ensure smooth traffic flow and safeguard public safety.
Commissioner of Police Dr S. Dev Datta Singh, IPS, promulgated the order under Sections 28 and 29 of the Odisha Urban Police Act, 2003, read with the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissionerate (Traffic & Public Order) Regulation, 2008, and Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023.
The order cites indiscriminate parking as a major cause of congestion, inconvenience to commuters, and potential hazards. To regulate traffic, parking will remain prohibited on the following stretches:

- Raj Bhawan Square to Kalarahanga Chhak via Jaydev Vihar
- Airport to NALCO Chhak via Acharya Vihar
- Sishubhawan Chhak to Vanivihar via Rajmahal Square and Master Canteen Square
- Rasulgarh Chhak to Jaydev Vihar
- Sriya Chhak to PHD Office
- Bapuji Nagar
- IDBI Bank Square to Veterinary College, NH-16 via Empire Hotel
- Alok Bharati Building to Saheed Nagar Durga Puja Mandap at Janpath
- Janpath (Kalyan Jewellers) to Charak Medical Store via Sparsh Hospital
- Trupti Service Station of Janpath to Saheed Nagar Entry Point

- KIIT Square to Infocity Square via Silicon Engineering College (both sides)

- Xavier Square to Sai Temple via Utkal Hospital (both sides)
⚖️ Penalties
Violations will be punishable under Section 177 of the MV (Amendment) Act, 2019, and Section 223(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. Vehicles causing obstruction may be towed under Section 127 of the MV Act, 1988, with owners bearing towing costs and penalties.
The order comes into effect immediately from the date of promulgation.
