The Odisha government will set up a digital accident clock at AG Square in Bhubaneswar to highlight the rising number of road mishaps.
The Commerce and Transport Department directed Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) to execute the project. Officials confirmed that the initiative aims to raise public awareness and encourage safer driving practices.
The digital accident clock will function as a real-time display board. It will present updated figures on accidents and fatalities across Odisha. Authorities believe the installation will act as a constant reminder for thousands of commuters passing through AG Square every day.
By showcasing accident statistics, the government hopes to motivate citizens to follow traffic rules more responsibly. Officials stressed that the clock will serve as a visual alert, discouraging negligence and reinforcing road safety.
Addsoft Technologies Limited submitted a proposal for the outdoor video wall that will power the digital accident clock. BSCL will coordinate with the Transport Commissioner to finalise technical planning and financial arrangements.
