Town police arrested two men in Puri for murdering a minor boy over a Rs 10,000 debt.
The accused, Aju Pradhan (25) and Sipun Singh (18), killed Surya, son of Loknath Sahu, and dumped his body near Shree Setu.
Surya went missing on Tuesday, prompting his family to file a complaint. Police discovered his body on Thursday in a field near Shree Setu. Investigators revealed that Aju had borrowed ₹10,000 from Surya two years ago but failed to repay it. Repeated demands for repayment led to a heated argument.
Aju conspired with Sipun to eliminate Surya. They lured him to Shree Setu, killed him, and disposed of his body in a nearby pond. Police recovered evidence linking the duo to the crime.
Authorities registered Case No. 695/2025 under murder charges. The court denied bail, and both accused were sent to jail. Police confirmed that Sipun has a criminal history, with prior cases at Baselisahi and Kumbharpada police stations.
The incident highlights how a small debt escalated into a violent crime. Police continue their investigation to ensure justice for Surya and his family.
