He described Nilgiri as the land of people’s strength and democratic spirit.

The march began from Nilgiri and continued to Mitrapur, covering nine kilometres. Thousands of students, youth, citizens, and government officials joined the procession. Students carried a 100‑foot tricolour flag, symbolising unity and patriotism.

Before the march, Majhi offered prayers at Jagannath Temple and visited a photo exhibition on Balasore’s role in the freedom struggle and Patel’s life. Addressing a public gathering, he said the Unity March represents Indian identity and the duty of citizens to keep the nation united.

Majhi recalled the Nilgiri people’s movement during the freedom struggle, calling it a chapter of resistance against exploitation and injustice. He emphasised that unity among people ensures victory over oppressive forces. He urged citizens to build a strong and prosperous Odisha and India through collective effort.

Higher Education Minister Suraj Suryabanshi highlighted the importance of education and knowledge in shaping the future. He called on the youth to lead the nation. Balasore MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi, Deputy Chief Whip Gobinda Chandra Das, MLAs Padmalochan Panda and Manas Kumar Dutta, and State Women’s Commission Chairperson Shobhana Mohanty also attended.

Nilgiri MLA Santosh Kumar Khatua delivered the welcome speech, while District Collector Suryawanshi Mayur Vikas expressed gratitude. The march concluded at Mitrapur with celebrations reinforcing the message of unity.
