Prime Minister Narendra Modi, currently on a two-day state visit to Bhutan’s capital, Thimphu, has vowed strict action against those responsible for the Delhi Red Fort blast, which killed 13 people.
Addressing the media, PM Modi said, “The horrific incident that took place in Delhi yesterday evening has deeply saddened everyone. I understand the grief of the affected families. The entire nation stands with them today. I was in touch with all agencies investigating this incident throughout last night. The conspirators behind this will not be spared, and all responsible will be brought to justice.”
Rajnath Singh Assures Strict Action
Earlier, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, speaking at the Delhi Defence Dialogue organized by the Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (MP-IDSA), assured the nation that the perpetrators of the Red Fort blast will face the harshest punishment.
Singh stated, “I want to firmly assure the nation that those responsible for this tragedy will be brought to justice and will not be spared under any circumstances.”
Police and Security Response
The Delhi Police registered an FIR under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Explosives Act in connection with the blast. The national capital has been placed on high alert, with heightened security at airports, railway stations, and bus terminals.
The explosion caused panic near the historic Red Fort complex, prompting a large-scale security operation. Teams from the Special Cell, Crime Branch, and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) were deployed, and the area was sealed off while visitors were evacuated.
On Monday evening, two men, Salman and Devender, previous owners of a vehicle linked to the blast, were detained. Union Home Minister Amit Shah confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, “taking all possibilities into account,” and results will be made public soon.
