In response to the recent explosion near the Red Fort in Delhi, Odisha has been placed on high alert, with enhanced security protocols implemented across key locations in the state. Authorities are taking no chances, ramping up vigilance to prevent any potential threats.
In the capital city of Bhubaneswar, a high alert has been issued, as confirmed by the Bhubaneswar DCP. Strict checks have begun at all entry and exit points, while security has been bolstered at the railway station and airport. Instructions have been given to all IICs (Inspectors-in-Charge) to conduct thorough searches in hotels to ensure public safety.
Similarly, security has been significantly tightened at the Hirakud Dam in Sambalpur following the Delhi incident. Sambalpur SP Umashankar Dash stated that police checks are underway around the dam’s perimeter, with close monitoring of crowded areas. As Odisha’s primary center for water conservation and power generation, the Hirakud Dam’s protection is being prioritized. This move aligns with directives from the central government to enhance security at all major installations post the Delhi blast.
In Puri, a high alert has also been declared. Puri SP Prateek Singh informed that security measures have been increased at the Shri Jagannath Temple, the Grand Road (Bada Danda), the beach, railway station, and bus stand. Checkpoints have been set up at entry points and along the coastline, with patrolling operations intensified. IICs have been directed to remain vigilant, and the public has been urged to cooperate by reporting any suspicious activities to the emergency number 112.
For long-term security, the Odisha Police are collaborating with the CISF (Central Industrial Security Force) to strengthen overall protective measures across the state.
