India’s scientific community gathered on Day 3 of ESTIC 2025 in New Delhi to spotlight transformative advancements in advanced materials and manufacturing.
Hosted by CSIR, the session brought together leading researchers, entrepreneurs, and innovators to accelerate India’s journey toward Viksit Bharat 2047.
Dr. N. Kalaiselvi, Director General of CSIR, chaired the plenary and emphasized that science, R&D, and advanced materials form the backbone of India’s technological future. She highlighted how breakthroughs in clean energy, biotechnology, and emerging technologies are shaping a self-reliant and innovation-driven nation.
Prof. Giridhar Udapi Rao Kulkarni, former President of JNCASR, delivered the keynote address. He explained how engineered materials—from semiconductors to smart polymers—are revolutionizing product design and performance. He stressed that nano-scale precision and dimensional engineering are unlocking manufacturing breakthroughs that fuel India’s innovation pipeline.
Industry leaders and academic experts contributed powerful insights. Pawan Kumar Chandana, CEO of Skyroot Aerospace, showcased Vikram-1, India’s first all-carbon launch vehicle, and discussed how advanced composites and 3D printing are elevating aerospace innovation. Rajashri Teli, MD of Innovative Projects Pvt. Ltd., emphasized the role of precision and women-led leadership in manufacturing. Prof. T. Pradeep from IIT Madras presented scalable nanotechnologies for clean water, while Prof. B. S. Murty from Raman Research Institute explored India’s quantum computing edge.
The session concluded with a clear message: collaborative innovation across sectors is propelling India toward a knowledge-powered economy. CSIR reaffirmed its commitment to pushing scientific boundaries and enhancing global competitiveness.
