India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) to provide free doorstep Digital Life Certificate (DLC) services to pensioners under the Employees’ Pension Scheme, 1995.

The MoU was exchanged between Shri R. Viswesvaran, MD & CEO of IPPB, and Shri Ramesh Krishnamurthi, Central Provident Fund Commissioner, during EPFO’s 73rd Foundation Day. Union Labour Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya attended the event as Chief Guest, alongside senior officials from the Ministry of Labour & Employment, EPFO, and IPPB.

Through this collaboration, IPPB will use its vast network of over 1.65 lakh post offices and 3 lakh+ postal service providers equipped with biometric-enabled devices to help pensioners submit their life certificates from home. The service will use Aadhaar-based Face Authentication and Fingerprint biometric verification, eliminating the need for pensioners to visit EPFO offices or banks.

EPFO will bear the full cost of the service, making it completely free for pensioners. This initiative supports the Government of India’s Digital India and Ease of Living missions by ensuring inclusive and accessible service delivery.

Pensioners can contact their local postman or Gramin Dak Sevak, or visit the nearest post office to initiate the process. Once authenticated, they will receive an SMS confirmation, and the certificate will be available online the next day.
