India crushed Australia by nine wickets in the third and final ODI at the Sydney Cricket Ground on October 25, 2025.
Rohit Sharma remained unbeaten on 121 off 125 balls, while Virat Kohli scored 74* off 81, guiding India to a comfortable chase of 237.
Australia, after winning the toss for the third time in the series, chose to bat first. Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head gave them a solid start with a 61-run opening stand. At 183/3 in the 34th over, they looked set for a 300+ total. However, a sudden collapse saw them bowled out for 236. Matt Renshaw top-scored with 56. Harshit Rana led India’s bowling with 4 wickets, while Sundar picked up two. Siraj, Prasidh, Axar, and Kuldeep took one each.
In reply, India lost Shubman Gill early, but Rohit and Kohli stitched together a 168-run unbeaten partnership. Rohit reached his 33rd ODI century and 50th international hundred in the 33rd over. Kohli, returning to form after two ducks, anchored the innings and sealed the win with a boundary.
This victory helped India avoid a whitewash in the three-match series. The India vs Australia 3rd ODI 2025 will be remembered for the vintage Ro-Ko show and a dominant all-round performance.
