Australia collapsed for 236 in 46.4 overs during the third and final ODI against India at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
India now needs 237 runs to win and avoid a series whitewash.
After winning the toss, Australia chose to bat first and started strong. Travis Head and captain Mitchell Marsh built a 61-run partnership for the opening wicket. However, Mohammed Siraj broke the stand by dismissing Head for 29. Shortly after, Axar Patel bowled Marsh for 41, shifting momentum in India’s favor.
Washington Sundar maintained the pressure by removing Matthew Short (30) and Matt Renshaw (56), who top-scored for Australia. Harshit Rana then delivered a match-defining spell, claiming four wickets for just 39 runs. He dismissed Alex Carey (24), Cooper Connolly (23), Mitchell Owen (1), and Josh Hazlewood for a duck.
Meanwhile, Kuldeep Yadav and Prasidh Krishna added one wicket each, ensuring Australia failed to reach the 250-run mark. India’s bowlers executed their plans with precision and kept the hosts on the back foot throughout the innings.
Now, India turns its focus to the chase. With veterans Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli possibly playing their final ODI in Australia, fans eagerly await their performance. Shubman Gill leads the side, aiming to finish the series with a win and restore team morale.
Although India lost the first two ODIs, this final match presents an opportunity to end the tour on a high. The India vs Australia 3rd ODI has become a battle for pride, and the visitors are determined to make a statement in Sydney.
