Australia has announced a reshuffled T20 squad for the five-match series against India, balancing short-format commitments with preparations for the upcoming Ashes.
Glenn Maxwell and Ben Dwarshuis return to the squad, while Josh Hazlewood and Sean Abbott step back to focus on red-ball cricket.
Hazlewood will play only the first two matches, and Abbott will feature in the first three, both aiming for Test spots in Pat Cummins’ likely absence. Maxwell, recovering from a wrist injury, joins the squad for the final three games. Dwarshuis, back from a calf issue, will be available for the last two matches.
Australia has also added uncapped pacer Mahli Beardman for the final three fixtures. Wicketkeeper Josh Philippe remains as cover for Josh Inglis, who is still nursing a calf strain.
Marnus Labuschagne has been released from the ODI squad to concentrate on red-ball cricket. Jack Edwards and Matt Kuhnemann will feature in the final ODI in Sydney. The Ashes series begins in Perth on November 21.
