In a devastating road mishap, a tanker collided head-on with a motorcycle on the Kandajama-Palupai road under Ramanaguda police station limits in Rayagada district, resulting in the deaths of the bike rider and another person, authorities confirmed.
The identities of the two deceased individuals have yet to be established, though preliminary investigations suggest they hail from the Gumma area near Rayagada. The victims were en route to the home of relatives in Rekhaguda, close to Haduguda in Ramanaguda block, when the accident occurred.
Local police rushed to the scene upon receiving information about the incident. The victims were promptly transported to Ramanaguda Community Health Centre for medical attention. However, upon examination, doctors declared both victims dead.
Officers seized the bodies for post-mortem examination and have initiated a probe into the circumstances leading to the accident.
The tanker driver, whose details are yet to be disclosed, is under questioning as part of the ongoing investigation. No arrests have been made so far. Further updates are awaited as the investigation progresses.
