The Election Commission of India (ECI) trained Returning Officers (ROs) and Assistant ROs (AROs) on October 9 and 10, 2025.
The sessions prepared officials for the Bihar Assembly elections and bye-elections.
ECI held online assessments and cleared doubts about the nomination process. A total of 243 ROs and 1,418 AROs joined virtually. These officers, appointed under the Representation of the People Act, 1951, ensure elections follow legal procedures.
National Level Master Trainers led the sessions. They explained key topics like nominations, disqualifications, Model Code of Conduct, candidate withdrawal, symbol allotment, polling setup, and vote counting.
ECI also briefed CEOs, DEOs, and ROs on the ECINet Presiding Officer module. This tool lets Presiding Officers upload voter turnout data every two hours and after polls close. The app compiles data at the RO level to show near real-time voting trends.
Before polling day, ECI will run a trial of the ECINet app at all polling stations. These sessions support state-level training led by Chief Electoral Officers.
