Odisha Vigilance officers caught Banamali Satpathy, Executive Officer of Belaguntha NAC in Ganjam district, while he accepted a ₹25,000 bribe from a government employee.
Satpathy demanded the money to process the staffer’s arrear salary and issue his Last Pay Certificate (LPC), which was necessary for drawing salary at his new posting.
Unable to access his dues, the employee reported the matter to Vigilance authorities. The Vigilance team acted quickly and intercepted Satpathy at Balipadar Bus Stop during the transaction. They recovered the entire bribe amount from his possession and seized it as evidence.
Investigators launched simultaneous raids at three locations connected to Satpathy to examine potential disproportionate assets. Berhampur Vigilance Police registered the case under PS Case No. 14/2025, citing Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Officials continue to scrutinize Satpathy’s financial records and property holdings.
This operation reinforces Odisha Vigilance’s commitment to curbing corruption and holding public officials accountable.
