A devastating car bomb explosion outside the Frontier Constabulary headquarters in Quetta has left at least 10 people dead and several others injured, according to Pakistani authorities.
The blast occurred on Monday and was followed by a fierce gunfight between security forces and four armed assailants.
Eyewitness footage circulating on social media shows the moment of the explosion, with flames engulfing the area and thick plumes of smoke rising into the sky. The attackers reportedly exited the vehicle before detonating the bomb and engaged in a shootout with paramilitary forces stationed at the compound.
The Balochistan Liberation Army, a banned separatist group, is suspected to be behind the attack, although no group has officially claimed responsibility. The explosion shattered windows of nearby buildings and damaged several vehicles in the vicinity.
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti condemned the attack, stating, “Terrorists cannot break the nation’s resolve through cowardly acts, and the sacrifices of our people and security forces will not go in vain.”
This incident follows a recent suicide bombing near a stadium in Quetta that killed 13 and injured 30, highlighting the ongoing insurgency in the region.
