The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 warm-up matches delivered high-octane drama on Day 2, with Bangladesh clinching a heart-stopping one-run victory over Sri Lanka, while India bounced back from an earlier defeat to overpower New Zealand by four wickets via the DLS method.

🇧🇩 Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka: A Final-Over Classic

Result: Bangladesh won by 1 run.

In Colombo, Bangladesh held their nerve to seal a nail-biting win over Sri Lanka. After electing to bat first, Bangladesh posted 242/8, anchored by a resilient 71 from Sharmin Akter and a 90-run stand with Rubya Haider. Sri Lanka’s bowlers, led by Kaveesha Dilhari (2 wickets), kept the scoring in check.

Sri Lanka’s chase was marked by grit and heartbreak. Kaveesha Dilhari’s 63 and Nilakshika Silva’s 75 brought them within touching distance, but a freak dismissal and tight bowling from Nahida Akter (3/28) turned the tide. Marufa Akter defended nine runs in the final over to seal the win.

🇮🇳 India vs New Zealand: Redemption in Guwahati

Result: India won by 4 wickets (DLS method).

India bounced back from a very heavy loss to England with a composed chase against New Zealand. After early hiccups, Harleen Deol (74) and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (69) stitched a 132-run partnership that anchored India’s pursuit of 237. Despite late breakthroughs from Bree Illing and Jess Kerr, India crossed the line with 10 balls to spare.

Earlier, New Zealand’s innings was built around a half-century from Sophie Devine and a steady 40 from Melie Kerr. Rain interruptions and early wickets hampered momentum, with India’s bowlers striking early to reduce NZ to 38/2.

Day 2 of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 warm-up matches showcased the intensity and unpredictability that define world-class cricket.

With the tournament opener looming, these warm-ups offered a glimpse into the form and firepower of the participating teams.
