A disturbing incident has emerged from Timanpur Ashram School in Sinapali block of Nuapada district, where Headmaster Manoj Hota has been accused of physically and verbally abusing a sixth-grade tribal student.
The student, hailing from Nayakpada village in Golamunda, Kalahandi, had recently enrolled in the school to pursue his education.
The alleged abuse came to light after a video surfaced on social media showing the headmaster summoning the student to his office late at night on September 15, where he reportedly assaulted and threatened him while under the influence of alcohol. The video, recorded on a mobile phone, quickly circulated via WhatsApp, prompting widespread condemnation.
Following a formal complaint by the student’s guardians, the district administration dispatched a team led by Sub-Collector Surmi Soren to the school for an immediate investigation. The family has demanded strict action against the headmaster, who is currently absconding.
The incident has sparked outrage among residents, with warnings of public protests in Golamunda if swift administrative action is not taken. Officials have assured that appropriate disciplinary measures will be enforced.
