In a high-intensity encounter near Tronica City, Ghaziabad, a joint operation by Delhi Police’s Special Cell, the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF), and Haryana STF ended with the deaths of two notorious gangsters involved in the recent firing outside actor Disha Patani’s Bareilly home.
Joint Operation and Encounter Details
The two gangsters, identified as Ravinder of Rohtak and Arun of Sonepat, were linked to the Rohit Godara–Goldy Brar gang. According to police, the encounter took place after a dramatic manhunt spanning several states.
Police officials said the duo exchanged over a dozen rounds with the joint team before being neutralised. Ravinder was shot in the chest, while Arun sustained bullet injuries to the neck and chest. Both succumbed to their injuries during treatment at a nearby hospital.
Manhunt After Firing at Patani’s Home
The operation was launched after a September 12 incident when two men opened fire outside the Bareilly residence of retired CO Jagdish Patani, the father of Bollywood actress Disha Patani. Soon after, a social media account linked to gangster Goldy Brar claimed responsibility for the attack.
Ravinder was first identified through CCTV footage near the crime scene. Investigators traced their movements using technical surveillance and inputs from crime databases in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Haryana.
ACP Dharmender Singh and SI Manjeet Singh led the final surveillance, confirming on Monday that the accused had reached Ghaziabad. A trap was laid near Tronica City by Wednesday afternoon.
The Encounter: How Events Unfolded
At around 7:20 pm, police intercepted the suspects’ bike and ordered them to surrender. Instead, the gangsters opened fire, injuring a police officer and damaging a vehicle. Police retaliated, leaving both shooters critically injured.
Four officers – SI Rohit, HC Kailash, and UP STF constables Ankur and Jai – sustained injuries during the exchange of fire.
Recovered from the site were:
-
A stolen motorbike
-
A Zigana pistol
-
A Glock Gen 5 pistol
Motive: Extortion Plot Targeting Patani Family
According to UP STF officials, the gang had been monitoring Disha Patani’s house for weeks with the intent to extort money from the family. Haryana STF SP Waseem Akram confirmed that the duo was directly involved in the Bareilly firing and was being actively tracked.
Ravinder had a history of violent crime and was wanted in a 2024 Fatehabad court firing case. He was also involved in a September 5 gang war in Bhiwani, where a man named Luvjeet was shot at outside a court.
Police Statement
Pramod Singh Kushwah, Additional Commissioner of Police (Special Cell), said:
“This operation is a result of coordinated efforts across three states. Both accused were dangerous criminals linked to multiple cases, including the firing outside Ms. Patani’s residence. Their neutralisation has averted further extortion attempts and violent crimes.”
