India Outclass Pakistan in Asia Cup with Suryakumar’s Flair and Kuldeep’s Spin

India delivered a masterclass in the Asia Cup 2025, dismantling Pakistan by seven wickets in a one-sided affair under the glittering Dubai lights.

Suryakumar Yadav, celebrating his birthday, sealed the chase with a flamboyant slog-sweep for six, finishing unbeaten on 47* as India chased down 128 in just 15.5 overs. Kuldeep Yadav’s mesmerising 3 for 18 and a disciplined bowling effort set the stage for India’s dominance, keeping their unbeaten streak alive and their Group A lead intact.

Pakistan, choosing to bat first, stumbled early. Hardik Pandya struck with a peach of an outswinger to remove Saim Ayub, followed by Jasprit Bumrah dismissing Mohammad Haris, leaving Pakistan reeling at 6 for 2. Sahibzada Farhan showed brief defiance, smashing sixes off Bumrah and Kuldeep, but his resistance was short-lived. Kuldeep’s guile dismantled the middle order, with Axar Patel (2 for 18) and Varun Chakaravarthy chipping in to reduce Pakistan to 127 for 9.

Shaheen Afridi’s late 33 off 16 provided some respectability, but partnerships remained scarce. India’s chase was a spectacle of intent and flair. Abhishek Sharma blazed 31 off 13, launching Shaheen Afridi for a six and peppering boundaries before holing out. Shubman Gill’s elegant 10 ended via Saim Ayub’s clever carrom ball, but Suryakumar and Tilak Varma steadied the ship with panache. Varma’s reverse sweeps and a towering six enthralled the crowd, while Suryakumar’s wristy drives and delicate cuts oozed class. Despite Varma’s dismissal to Ayub (3 for 35), Shivam Dube’s breezy cameo and Suryakumar’s match-ending six ensured a comfortable victory with 25 balls to spare.

Beyond the cricket, Suryakumar’s post-match gesture stood out. Dedicating the win to the armed forces and families affected by the Pahalgam terror attack, the Indian captain struck a poignant note of solidarity. “This victory is for those who guard our nation,” he said, blending empathy with professionalism. His calm dismissal of the India-Pakistan hype—“just another game”—underscored a team focused on consistency, with praise for his spinners reflecting a deep trust in India’s bowling core.

India now top Group A with four points from two matches, while Pakistan, with two points, must address their batting woes to stay competitive.
