In a disturbing repeat of recent events at the Delhi High Court, the Bombay High Court was evacuated on Friday following an anonymous bomb threat received via email.
The threat triggered panic among judges, lawyers, and staff, prompting swift action from security personnel.
According to eyewitness accounts, police entered the premises and instructed everyone to vacate the building immediately, citing an order from the Chief Justice. A lawyer present at the scene stated, “Police told us to go out and that there is a bomb threat rumour. They told us that this is an order of the Chief Justice.”
Bomb detection squads and emergency services were deployed to search the premises. As of now, no explosive devices have been found, and authorities suspect the threat may be a hoax, similar to the recent false alarms at Delhi High Court and other institutions.
Security agencies have launched a full-scale investigation to trace the origin of the email and identify the sender. Legal experts and public officials are calling for strict penalties against individuals responsible for such hoaxes, comparing them to air travel bomb threats, which carry severe legal consequences.
The incident has disrupted court proceedings and raised concerns about the vulnerability of judicial institutions to cyber-based threats.
