In a display of grit, skill, and unyielding determination, three young athletes from the Odisha Police have brought glory to the state by clinching a remarkable five medals—two gold and three silver—at the 14th National Wushu Martial Arts Championship 2025, held in New Delhi.

The event, a premier showcase of India’s rising martial arts talent, witnessed Odisha’s contingent dominating key categories in Wushu, a dynamic blend of traditional Chinese martial arts and modern competitive forms.

Leading the charge was Constable Barsha Nath, stationed with the Odisha Industrial Security Force (OISF) in Bhubaneswar. In a flawless performance, Nath secured a gold medal in the Wushu Martial Arts category, her precision and power earning her top honours and marking her as a standout in the women’s division.

Not far behind, Constable Biswajit Rout from the same unit turned in a double triumph in the men’s senior division. Competing in the over 81 kg category, Rout claimed a gold medal in Wushu Martial Arts, showcasing explosive strikes and tactical mastery. He doubled down with a silver in the ASI Chalan category, demonstrating versatility that left spectators and judges alike in awe.

Rounding out the podium performers was Constable Dibyaranjan Dalei, who etched his name into the record books with a groundbreaking double silver haul. In the over 95 kg senior Wushu category, Daloi’s commanding presence and strategic prowess netted him silver, while his foray into Kata (Karate forms) yielded another silver— a rare dual-medal feat in distinct disciplines.

This achievement not only boosted Odisha’s tally but also planted a new milestone for the state’s police sports program.

The championship, organized under the aegis of the Wushu Association of India, drew competitors from across the nation, highlighting the sport’s growing footprint in law enforcement circles. Odisha Police’s haul of two golds and three silvers underscores the force’s commitment to holistic development, blending duty with discipline through sports.

In a note from the State Police Headquarters in Cuttack, Director General of Police (DGP) Y.B. Khurania extended his warmest congratulations to the trio.

The state police’s sporting arm continues to prove that badges of honour extend far beyond the uniform.
