The body of an elderly woman was recovered from the toilet of a Divyang (differently-abled) coach on the Visakhapatnam–Raipur passenger train (No. 58528) at Kantabanji railway station in Bolangir district.
The woman, estimated to be around 60 years old, remains unidentified. Upon receiving the alert, the Kantabanji GRP (Government Railway Police) rushed to the scene and secured the area. A railway doctor examined the woman and declared her dead.
The body was sent to Kantabanji hospital for post-mortem. GRP officials noted that the woman appeared to belong to an economically disadvantaged background, based on her attire and physical condition. Preliminary observations suggest she may have been begging on the train.
GRP officer Makaru Sahu confirmed that further investigation is underway to determine the cause of death and identify the deceased. Authorities are appealing to the public for any information that could help trace her identity.
